Annual Fundraising Campaign

The 2007 fundraising campaign, like many in recent years, presented a real challenge to our dedicated team of campaign coordinators, community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

Longtime supporters Connie Bond Stuart of PNC Bank Delaware and Wayne Holden of Merrill Lynch co-chaired the 2007 Campaign. Their exceptional leadership and unique diligence created the ideal partnership for this year of unprecented events.

The 2007 Campaign proved remarkable in many respects: more than 180 new donors joined the campaign and 46 Delawareans became members of United Way of Delaware’s Tocqueville Society, an organization of donors who commit at least $10,000 to the annual fundraising campaign.

United Way of Delaware took advantage of every opportunity to educate volunteers and partners on United Way’s role in assisting underserved Delawareans. These educational opportunities helped strengthen community partnerships, yielding results especially in Kent and Sussex Counties.

After months of hard work, it was determined in January 2008 that Bond Stuart, Holden and their outstanding cabinet had exceeded United Way’s goal of $22 million.
